About us

Losi Media (Pty) Ltd is headed by award winning photographer Masi Losi. Masi Losi was born and raised in East London in the Eastern Cape. He started his professional career in 2003 at the Daily Dispatch in East London. In 2008, he joined the Pretoria News where he went up the ranks from Senior Photographer to Chief Photographer and lastly Picture Editor. In 2017 he joined the Sunday Times.

In 2007, he won The Canberra Times/Commonwealth Press Union Young Photographer Prize and as part of the prize he spent a month working at the Sydney Morning Herald, Northern Daily Leader and at Canberra Times in Australia.

In 2007, he was a finalist in the Mondi Shanduka Newspaper Awards now known as the Avukile Standard Bank Awards.  In 2009, he was nominated for the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass. In 2010 at the Sony Profoto Awards of the Year he won Silver in the Professional Portfolio Category – Editorial/Documentary Campaign and won Bronze in the Single-Entry Sport/Action Category. In 2011, he won the photographer of the year in the National Press Club Awards.

 

Masi Losi has published in New York Times, Associated Press (AP), Reuters, Agence France-Presse (AFP), European Pressphoto Agency (EPA), Sunday Times, City Press, Bona Magazine, Top Bike Magazine. Some of the corporate companies he worked with range from Community Investment Holdings (CIH), Be Sure Holdings, Coca Cola, Standard Bank, Diale Mogashoe Incorporated, Yoco, Magna Carta, One Eyed Jack, Simodisa StartUp, Clive Morris Production.

 

In between he has been a guest lecturer at Market Photo Workshop, Vega School (Pretoria) and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and College of Digital Photography.
